Exit intent
Fires as a shopper's cursor moves toward the tab or the browser's close button, the moment before they'd leave without buying.
Exit-intent popup
Profiter opens the wheel as a shopper's cursor heads for the close button, not on a blanket timer that interrupts everyone. Five more triggers cover what exit intent alone can't reach.
How it works
Exit intent watches the direction a mouse pointer is moving. When it heads for the tab bar or the window's close button, Profiter opens the wheel right then, before the shopper is gone. That's the whole trick, and it only works where there's a cursor to read.
Phones and tablets don't have one, so exit intent does nothing there. Turn on device targeting and give mobile visitors a different trigger instead, scroll depth or a short time delay both work without a cursor. Same wheel, same prizes, a trigger that actually fires on the device in front of you.
Targeting & triggers
Exit intent is one trigger among seven. Combine them so the wheel shows up for the shopper in front of it, on the page and the device they're using.
Fires as a shopper's cursor moves toward the tab or the browser's close button, the moment before they'd leave without buying.
Fires once a visitor scrolls past a percentage you set — no cursor needed, so it works on phones and tablets.
Waits a set number of seconds before inviting a spin. Also cursor-free, also fine on mobile.
Show on desktop, mobile, tablet, or any combination, and give each device type its own trigger.
Limit how often the same visitor sees the popup again, in days.
Cap how many times one visitor can spin, so your odds and margins hold.
Limit the wheel to the Online Store pages you pick — a giveaway or landing page — so it stays off the rest of the store (Growth+).

Targeting alone isn't proof
A trigger only decides who sees the wheel. It doesn't tell you whether showing it to them was worth the discount you gave away. That's what the holdout is for.
Part of your traffic, matched by the same targeting rules, never sees the wheel at all. Profiter compares profit per visitor between the two groups, so a trigger that pulls in more spins from shoppers who'd have bought anyway shows up as a loss, not a win.

An exit-intent popup is a marketing message shown to a visitor who appears to be leaving your site. On desktop, Profiter detects this by tracking a visitor's mouse cursor as it moves towards the browser's close button. On mobile devices without a cursor, it can use other triggers like scroll depth or time on page.
Profiter proves profitability using a holdout group. A portion of your traffic that matches your trigger rules is held back and never sees the popup. The app then compares the profit per visitor between the group that saw the popup and the holdout group, accounting for your product margins and shipping costs.
Yes. Profiter's Free plan runs a spin-to-win wheel with exit-intent targeting and covers 1,000 spins a month. The measurement work comes with it in full — holdout testing, profit per visitor after discounts and shipping, and the recommendations engine. The paid plans buy more spins and the integrations, never the ability to measure.
On desktop, the script watches the pointer leave the top edge of the viewport — the moment its vertical position crosses zero, heading for the tabs and the close button. That single check is the whole signal, which is also why it can't work on a touchscreen: there's no cursor to leave the page. On phones and tablets, pair device targeting with a time delay or scroll-depth trigger instead.
To turn off a Profiter popup, you can disable it from the app's dashboard. Profiter also has built-in limits; for example, you can cap how often a visitor sees the wheel (frequency cap) or how many times they can spin. The app notifies you when you approach your plan's monthly spin limit but does not automatically pause the campaign.
Launch a wheel in minutes. The dashboard shows what it added to your bottom line.
